NFT · what this does and does not hide

Everyone knows that address bought the NFT.
Nobody knows the address is you.

That sentence is the whole offer, and it is deliberately narrower than the one you will see elsewhere. An NFT transfer cannot be hidden. Ownership is public state, not just public history, so anyone can query who holds it right now and always will be able to. What can be kept apart is the wallet that paid and the address that bought.

How it works
  1. 01
Use an address you have never used

Not a new label on an old wallet. A genuinely empty one. Everything below depends on it, which is why there is a check for it further down this page.

  2. 02
Route the purchase amount to it, from any asset on any chain

The ordinary DarkRoute flow. You send from the wallet you already have; the venue delivers to the empty address. The fee is 0.3% and it is printed before you deposit.

  3. 03
    Buy from that address

You make the purchase yourself, directly from the marketplace. The NFT never passes through us, which is what keeps this non-custodial: we are the money changer, never the shop.

What this does not do
  • It does not hide the purchase. The sale is on chain and so is the new owner. If someone is watching that collection, they see the buy.
  • It does not beat timing. On a quiet chain, one deposit at 14:02 and one purchase at 14:03 are easy to put together. Privacy needs a crowd, and on Robinhood Chain there are about 223 NFT transfers every 2,000 blocks. That is not a crowd yet, and we would rather say so here than let you find out from someone else.
  • It does not protect a reused address. Fund an address with a history and the purchase joins that history. The check above exists for this.
  • It does not make you anonymous. We do not use that word anywhere, and this page is not the exception.
One practical note

Route slightly more than the listing price. An address that lands holding exactly the sale amount has nothing left to pay gas with and cannot buy anything. Gas on Robinhood Chain is cheap, a filled order measured between 125,671 and 422,193 gas at 0.051 gwei, which is fractions of a cent, but it is not zero and zero is the number that stops a transaction.

And a listing can be bought by someone else while your funds are in flight. If that happens the money is still yours, sitting in the address you chose. You just will not have the NFT.
